Dear St. Leo Catholic Academy Families,

Good day to all!  Communication is key to our academy’s success.  Last week was our first week to send out our weekly updates.  Parents seemed happy with the new form of communication. We will continue to share the weekly updates via email, google classroom and on our academy’s website.  To ensure parents are aware of school events, continuing to produce and distribute St. Leo’s monthly school calendar is necessary. 

Last week, our book fair was a success.  Our students had the opportunity to visit the book fair.  We will plan another one in the spring of 2023.  

Saturday, December 10th, we hosted a Breakfast with Santa.  Santa visited St. Leo, and the excitement was contagious. The digital pictures will be sent to our families this week. I hope everyone enjoyed the festivities.  If we can do anything differently, please let us know.

 Week of December 12^th

December is a very busy month at the Academy.  As we enter the month of December, please remember we are preparing for the birth of Christ.  For those of you who are not practicing Catholics, our celebrations are optional for all.   If ever you do not want your children to be involved, alternate arrangements are an option. 

Spirit Week will take place between December 12^th through 16^th. Information will be posted on our school’s website and in each google classroom. 

On  December 12^th, 13^th, and 14^th, we will be hosting our Pre- K students and parents. The students will have the opportunity to visit our kindergarten classes.  If you have any questions, please reach out to the office or Mrs. Ladisa. We love our Pre-K students and their families. 

December 13, 2022, our student orchestra will be attending the Christmas Tree lighting at Wm. F. Moore Park, corner of Corona Avenue and 108th Street from 3-5:00pm, and they will be performing.  Thank you for the invite, Councilman Moya.  Parents, please join us.  

 December 14, 2022, our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will be attending mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan, will visit Rockefeller Center and have lunch.  Our 4^th and 5^th grade students will be going on a trip as well. Permission slips were sent home already. 3K, pre-K, Kindergarten and grades 1^st through 3^rd will be allowed to wear their pajamas to school and we will be watching a special movie in the gymnasium.  

On Friday December 16^th, St. Leo’s will have pizza day; a permission slip went home this past week.  All money is due on Wednesday December 14^th.  

Any parent that was unable to attend parent-teacher conferences, please let us know when we can schedule a time to discuss your child's progress.

Queridas familias de la Academia Católica St. Leo,

 ¡Buenos días a todos!  La comunicación es clave para el éxito de nuestra academia.  La semana pasada fue nuestra primera semana para enviar nuestras actualizaciones semanales.  Los padres parecían felices con la nueva forma de comunicación. Continuaremos compartiendo las actualizaciones semanales por correo electrónico, Google Classroom y en el sitio web de nuestra academia.  Para garantizar que los padres estén al tanto de los eventos escolares, es necesario continuar produciendo y distribuyendo el calendario escolar mensual de St. Leo.

La semana pasada, nuestra feria del libro fue un éxito.  Nuestros alumnos tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar la feria del libro.  Planearemos otro en la primavera de 2023.

El sábado 10 de diciembre organizamos un desayuno con Santa.  Santa visitó St. Leo, y la emoción fue contagiosa. Las imágenes digitales serán enviadas a nuestras familias esta semana. Espero que todos hayan disfrutado de las festividades.  Si podemos hacer algo diferente, por favor háganoslo saber.

Semana del 12 de diciembre

Diciembre es un mes muy ocupado en la Academia.  Al entrar en el mes de diciembre, por favor recuerden que nos estamos preparando para el nacimiento de Cristo.  Para aquellos de ustedes que no son católicos practicantes, nuestras celebraciones son opcionales para todos.   Si alguna vez no desea que sus hijos participen, los arreglos alternativos son una opción.

 La Semana del Espíritu tendrá lugar entre el 12 y el 16^de diciembre. La información se publicará en el sitio web de nuestra escuela y en cada aula de Google. 

Los días 12, 13 y 14 de diciembre  , recibiremos a nuestros estudiantes y padres de prekínder. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de visitar nuestras clases de jardín de infantes.  Si tiene alguna pregunta, comuníquese con la oficina o con la Sra. Ladisa. Amamos a nuestros estudiantes de Pre-K y sus familias.

El 13 de diciembre de 2022, nuestra orquesta estudiantil asistirá a la iluminación del árbol de Navidad y se presentarán @Wm. F. Moore Park, corner of Corona Avenue y 108 Street 3-5:00pm.  Gracias por la invitación, concejal Moya.  Padres, por favor únanse a nosotros.

El 14 de diciembre de 2022, nuestros estudiantes de 6º, 7º y 8º grado asistirán a misa en la Catedral de San Patricio en Manhattan, visitarán el Rockefeller Center y almorzarán.  Nuestros estudiantes de^4º y^5º grado también se irán de viaje. Las hojas de permiso ya fueron enviadas a casa. 3K, pre-K, Kindergarten y grados^1º a 3º podrán usar sus pijamas para ir a la escuela y veremos una película especial en el gimnasio.  

El viernes 16 de diciembre, St. Leo's tendrá el día de la pizza, un permiso se fue a casa la semana pasada.  Todo el dinero debe pagarse el miércoles 14 de diciembre.  

Cualquier padre que no haya podido asistir a las conferencias de padres y maestros, háganos saber cuándo podemos programar tiempo para discutir el progreso de su hijo
