Check out the St. Leo Catholic Academy April calendar.

April Showers brings May Flowers!

Christ the Lord has risen today!

Angels rolled the stone away

From the tomb wherein He lay!

Little children come and sing,

Glory, glory to the King,

Christ the Lord of everything!

We welcome our new SuperKids Ettabetta. Kindergarten children will be learning the beginning sound of /e/ and continue to practice beginning and middle sound of the letters /c/ /d/ /f/ /g/ /l/ /t/. Kindergarten will also continue to practice to sound out and write out words that have the short vowel sounds of /a/ /i/ /o/ and /e/. Practice sounding out simple words that include these letter sounds. Try sounding out words such as “wet”, “pet”, “frog”, “pig”, dog”, “wig”, “cot”, “glass”, “glad”, and “sad”. Kindergarten children are doing a great job of encoding and decoding sounds to letters.

Parents, you have access to this wonderful program and should have received an email from SuperKids that will help you to get started. This is a great early childhood reading program and we are excited about having it as part of our Kindergarten Curriculum. Remember to review the letter sounds at home that the children are learning in class.

In Go Math we are working on Addition!  The children are learning to write and use addition sentences up to 10. This is a great introduction to understanding what addition means by using pictures to support learning.

Thank you Mr. Roque for sharing his musical skills with the Kindergarten class! We learned about the Mandolin and the Banjolele. We cannot wait to see and learn about the next instrument!

Our Starfall.com program is also another wonderful resource to enhance our learning skills in Math and Reading. It is important to reinforce all the classroom topics at home with your child. Please make sure children are doing their homework, this a great way to review all of our classroom topics.

We are learning about Dinosaurs!  Children are getting to be Paleontologist and discovering all about these prehistoric creatures! Parents, you can check out the Storybots videos that we are using to sing and learn about our favorite dinosaurs. Click HERE!

As we approach Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday on April 14th, please remember to attend Mass and discuss with your children the importance of Easter!

Happy and Blessed Easter!

Parents, Kindergarten will be taking their class trip in April.  We are getting excited about our bus ride into NYC!
